Have you thought about the fact that procrastination actually only hurts you later? Said differently, did you realize that procrastination is an action killer.
This is another Donald Millar nugget that I had to share. He essentially said, if you don’t want to do the action today, you aren’t going to want to do it later. So either doesn’t do it at all or go ahead and get it done and be done with it.
I loved this little training. He said something that was so simple and yet so true. When you procrastinate, all you are doing is delaying something you don’t want to do today, and in your mind, you are thinking, “I don’t want to do that, I will make my future self do that.” But here’s the deal, YOU ARE your future self.
If you don’t want to take that phone call today, you aren’t going to want to take it tomorrow. Instead of thinking about it like, “Oh, I will let someone else handle that later,” realize you are that someone else. Unlike when you look at the kid’s laundry piling up and you say, the kids can handle that later, and then you have them do it. If you have to work on your vision for 2021 and you say, I will do that later. Realize, you are still the one that has to do that later.
This is hitting your 3 big pillars out of the 9 fundamental pillars of business; your productivity, execution, and life plan pillars. Right? And, it could be if you have a core value around a sense of urgency and responsiveness to deadlines, you could be damaging that pillar as well.
At the end of the day, procrastination is an action killer. Use your calendar, define your priorities, and get it done. Eat your vegetables first as they say. Knock it out and then go do something you enjoy.
If you can’t push through like this, creating a foundation in your business is going to be extremely difficult. So build this muscle now.
