As we continue to move through the holiday season, I am going to keep challenging you to be smart. Don’t sacrifice service for deals.
It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of the season. Especially if this is your first season as an entrepreneur. it’s all-new. It’s all exciting. You want to make the best business and you want to make the best impact on your target audience. You want to do all of these amazing things. But where so many businesses fail is that they offer such great deals, they can’t support their customers through the season or even the post-holiday season.
You want to create a tribe that follows you that’s loyal to your brand. But if your company royally screws up something, messed up something that was supposed to be a gift, or promised a delivery time before Christmas and it didn’t arrive, those are deal-breakers.
So here’s the deal. I want you excited about the holidays and time with family and making an impact with your business. But at the same time, I still want you to make very smart, good decisions. And the way that you do that is that you step out of all of this emotion for a minute and you think; “How can I make the best decision for my business? If I’m going to do this? What am I going to trade in order to deliver a deal, knowing that I cannot ever trade is customer loyalty?”
What I’m trying to challenge you to do is before you get to that moment, take the emotion out of it, think through all of the impacts, make sure that you have the ability to support the deal. And if you don’t write down the idea and think about how you can do it amazingly well, save that idea. Think through it and make smart decisions.
